Stewardship at Emmanuel is a spiritual practice grounded in gratitude. When we give as we are able, we help sustain the ministries of our church, serve our Kailua community, and reach beyond our walls into the wider world. A pledge is simply an intention to give and may be adjusted at any time. Your generosity allows our church to plan thoughtfully and continue the work God calls us to do together. Gifts may be made as a one-time offering or on a recurring basis, for a specific purpose or in support of the church’s ongoing ministry.
A Simple Guide to Making a Pledge to Emmanuel
What is a pledge?
Pledging to Emmanuel simply means choosing an amount you feel comfortable giving to the church over the coming year. It’s not a contract or obligation—it’s a personal and spiritual practice that invites you to think intentionally about generosity and how you want to support the life of the church. Your pledge also helps Emmanuel plan its budget and set ministry priorities so we can serve our community well. Most of all, pledging nurtures a sense of shared care and purpose as we work together to support Emmanuel’s mission.
How do I know how much to pledge?
Your pledge is entirely your decision. There’s no need to compare yourself to anyone else. A pledge is simply your personal commitment to support the ministries of Emmanuel in a way that feels meaningful and manageable for you.
What does “proportional giving” mean?
In the Bible, the traditional practice is to give a “tithe,” or 10% of one’s income. Many people aren’t able to start there—and that’s completely fine. You can choose a smaller percentage that works for your current situation. If you’ve been pledging for a while, you might consider gradually increasing your pledge as you’re able.

Unsure about pledging?
If you’re still feeling unsure about pledging, that’s completely okay. It may simply not be the right season for you to make a regular commitment—and there is absolutely no pressure to do so. Any gift, in any amount, and for any purpose, is received with gratitude.
